Well, highcountrychicks, my birthday is just 4 weeks away, I could make her a special cupcake!
We can't count on our neighbors to help as most are Amish and thus can't drive to pick up chicks or we don't like them and wouldn't ask for their help.
I've gotten my vet appointments switched around and taken off that Wednesday so hopefully my chicks come in that day!
When we order broilers, we'll just use the WI company the feed mills around us use and I'll pick them up after work. They only sell production breeds, nothing fancy. That helps at least!
I think I would have them delivered anyway and hide them under my desk and play a radio softly. And then take an early lunch and find a place to stash them - Can you make friends with the maintenance staff?
honestly, i'd find a neighbor and befriend them... offer to do something for them in return for taking your chicks in for the day... fresh eggs or some kind of chore? rake their leaves?
or i'd pay a neighborhood kid to do it... instruct them how to handle the chicks and have the brooder set up and waiting for the to just plop the chicks in...
You could post craigs and find a friend nearby. Just remember whatever you do cut'em some slack if you lose a few. Also you could ask the P.O. if there is something you can do or they could do for you. Talk to the mailperson.
Office politics sucks! What a Suck Butt she is! Her parents must be so proud! I can't stand folks like that! They arn't happy until they've made everyone else miserable!
