my chick hates me...

Excessive sugar is bad for their system for sure, but keep in mind you're not feeding them an entire container--just a little spoonful for an entire brood of chicks. If it's just a treat and not a regular part of their diet, it's fine. I've never had problems with it. If you feed them yogurt regularly, then I'd go for the plain stuff.

thats true i havent given them anything yet but i'll see what i have and go from there

They splatter it everywhere! I have to run as soon as I set it out for my LF hens haha. One of my hens just sticks her whole face in it and doesn't shake it off until she's done eating, but the others constantly splatter it.

I mix the yogurt into the chick feed, have to stir it in alot so that it is pretty dry. That way it doesn't clump up in the feeder.

Bribing with treats has worked wonders for my little flock. They would all cower when they heard me or saw me. I just started a little humming while i give them mealworms. Now they all stretch up their necks looking for me when I visit, instead of running for cover.

When they were younger my chicks seemed to change personalities every few days. The bold, confident chicks would running screaming when they saw me and the shy nervous chicks would jump on top of my head. I think they held meetings at night and said, "OK, tomorrow everyone changes again. Let's really confuse her!"

Stay consistent with your behavior and they'll settle down. Some chicks will be more flighty/nervous than others - just like dogs, or humans

. Nothing wrong with that. It sounds like you're doing a good job.

Thanks everyone! LittleSticks: i've noticed that too! but their behavior seems to change everytime i go to visit them! sometimes theyre totally calm and friandly and other tomes they'll all hide in the corner of the brooder! i guess it just takes time for them to adjust...
