My chick is choking. What to do?

I highly sugget you all stop picking the chicks up.
Stop this CPAP stuff and let this poor bird rest. It looks like it is dying to me.

DO NOT EVER force anything in to a chicks mouth again...please.
Please please be very careful when picking birds up so that you aren't touching their crop area at all.
My sister said it did fine last time without her helping it.

If she wakes up and wants to vomit, we'll try to help her get it all out.
Vomiting comes from the crop. It's a digestive organ that holds food and water before it moves on to the stomach and gizzard. If the fluid is in her lungs -- they are separate -- you cannot help her vomit and trying to help can make it worse.

I only ever make a chicken vomit if I know for absolute certain the crop is sour and full and the liquid is pouring from the beak. Even then, it's a very risky thing to do, even in a grown up chicken. In a young chick, it is even more risky. You can very easily push the fluid up into her throat and it can go back down into her lungs.

Did you ever eat or drink something that "went down the wrong pipe" and you had to cough it up? And someone thought they were helping by whacking you on the back? That's sort of what this poor chick is going through. @Kiki has a lot of experience and I would follow the advice to let the chick rest and try to clear her system on her own.

we also haven't been helping it vomit or anything either, and we haven't handled it unless strictly necessary. It is now resting.

Should we give the other chicks electolytes or probiotics?
We won't give anything to the sick sleeping chick.
