I have a chick that is around 6 weeks old and is very sick. It started two days ago but I thought maybe it was just sleepy. Last night I started to worry when I changed over the water and food and it did not get up. This morning it is not moving, very lethargic (when I pick it up it opens it's eyes and make a pathetic little wheezy squeek.) THis chick was the picture of health a couple days ago. I took it out from the other chicks and it is seems to be getting worse fast. It breathes with it's mouth open and is laying almost on it's side. It is so sad!

I bought come duramycin-10 but do not understand how to administer it or if I ever should. This is my first batch of chicks and I want to do everything I can to help this little lady. Please help! THanks

I have not seen her drink anything and since she is in the her box in the kitchen she has not moved unless I touch her and then it is only a little. She is still breathing and was breathing with her mouth open but at the moment it is closed and she seems to be breathing better than she was an hour ago. There is not active drainage from her nose but it looks like there was because there is browness around it. Any suggestions?

Did you do a search through the "Diseases/Emergencies" category. It could be any number of things -- there is a list of questions to answer that can be very helpful in diagnosing your chick.

Meanwhile, do you have poly-vi-sol baby vitamins WITHOUT iron on hand? What about Organic Apple Cider Vinegar? Plain yogurt. All of these can help boost your chicks immune system and help her battle whatever has her down.

Are you near a Tractor Supply Store. They carry all sorts of antibiotics and medications... but they close at 7-ish so you need to know what to get so you get there and get it before they close. Time is of the essence.
