My chick pipped the wrong end of the egg

Congratulations! Everyone seems to think touching hatching eggs and helping a chick is "taboo". I've never killed or injured a chick helping with a hatch or had it result in a sick, dead, or weak chick. Its a matter of knowing when to help and how long to let those guys struggle. I find it senseless to let a perfectly healthy chick die when a little help will allow it to thrive!
We had a chick whose head was jammed in the small end of the egg and had to be helped out. It survived and was fine. Other times we have helped when the peep seemed to be getting weaker and weaker. Usually it is a large chick in the egg. Although I can't tell at the time I suspect it is a larger cockerel chick in the egg.
We've only ever had one die that we helped and he died a few days later as Ridgerunner has stated, but what happened this was the last egg in the incubator. It had pipped with no action and the chick' cries got weaker and weaker and nothing was happening. We could see the membrane was starting to harden so we figured if we did nothing he would die. I have a feeling n that case we waited too long.
Over the years we have helped six or seven out (Usually wait a while as helping isn't our first choice) and only that one has died. The rest, once they had died couldn't tell them from the others.

HELP!!!
i helped one of my quail hatch due to him/she being pipped at the wrong end and hadn't made any progress in over 24 hours.. the shell was completely dry and so was the chick.. my question is.. is it normal that it cant stand on it legs and his neck seems like he cant straighten it out.. he chips and wants to move around he just kinda rolls around when he tries to move around??

So I’ve got seven chicks hatching in a brinsea mini II advance —six of them are done and crawling all over the this small incubator, most are dry and could go to the brooder. The last egg is pipped but from the wrong end. he’s taken some shell off and has broken through the membrane so I know he has air but I don’t know if he can get out. do I just leave the chicks in here and let them trample all over this egg. I’m afraid to open it and shrink wrap the one hatching. This isn’t my first hatch but this is the first time using this incubator. Thoughts please:)

All went well! the other chicks while walking on the egg, helped it split to get the backward facing hatchling out. Afterwards, I quickly opened up the incy and moved the six dry chicks out. Mother Nature was better this time than Mother Clucker!
