My chick seems sick and i dont know what from xc

22I jst recently purchased a baby leghorn chick. When i first got her i noticed she had pasty butt and cured it! She can use the restroom fine. She eats drinks and sleeps pretty well but she seems to be so thin. To the point where i can feel her breast bone protruding alot. I dont know why she is loosing weight when she is eating sleeping and drinking okay. Maybe someone can help? Or maybe she isnt sick at all and im jst overthinking it xc

sorry for the second picture i brought her in ,in a rush . Maybe it could be because she is alone? She is the only chick i have. I only bought one.

Yes i thought so too xc how many more should i buy so she isnt lonely? I was thinking of buying one more but i wanted to get two more jst in case so she has more of a groupie. Most of the animals i have i have in threes and to me they seem to do better.

Welcome to BYC. Chicks are not usually by themselves, so she might be bored, but she might also be sick. Try a small plastic mirror to look at, and a fuzzy stuffed animal for her to snuggle with. Are you keeping her in a brooder under a heat lamp or with another source of heat? What are you feeding her? Chick starter is what she needs right now. Try some chick vitamins with electrolytes in her water, or some Poultry Cell or NutriDrench 1 ml orally each day for a few days. I would try to get her with 1-2 other chicks her age.

How are you keeping her warm, I see nothing going into that plactic box I am assuming is her brooder box? Guessing it is 2 weeks old so needs 85-90F temps.

How are you keeping her warm, I see nothing going into that plactic box I am assuming is her brooder box? Guessing it is 2 weeks old so needs 85-90F temps.

Thank you! She has a heat lamp and everything in a brooder when i put her near a mirror she gets happy looking and excited i think what she really does need is companionship. I am going to get two more friends for her asap! Thank you!

Rjohns39 makes an excellent point, I am hopefully it isn't one of the 250W red lamps and instead something the poster repurposed like an infrared style 80w reptile type bulb or a heating pad. 250w in that small of a space allows for no escape from the heat. Even when I reared my little flock in a bathtub it was almost too small of a space for the 250W beast. Regardless best of luck rearing you little one(soon to be ones). Please keep us posted as to how everything goes.
