So far my Brown Leghorn is the only one out of 4 that is laying eggs...yesterday she cackled very loud, almost as loud as a rooster.....she was alerting me, "hey dad, I left an egg for you in one of the 4 nesting boxes". Can't wait til the other 3 start laying those $100 eggs........

One of my hens is even worse - sometimes she sits in the nest for an hour or so, comes out and sings a loud egg 'song' when she didn't lay an egg.

Mine does that too, only she does the egg "song" while sitting on the nest...for at least an hour.
