My chicken can’t stand or walk! HELP!

My Rhode Island Red chicken (age unknown) recently stopped walking and just sits in our nesting box all day long! When we try to stand her up she just squats and touches her beak to the ground. Her feet look white and crusty. She has had a few feet problems throughout the years including scaly leg mites, I successfully got rid of those but the scales on her feet never really grew back. Btw, it is winter here and I thought maybe she had frostbite. We have been keeping her by a heat lamp and putting balm on her feet but she doesn’t seem to be getting better! Help!

I highly doubt she is broody because she can’t move both of her legs and she seems like she’s in pain. I don’t know what to do other than letting her rest. It seems like her legs might be paralyzed. Here’s some photos.

Sorry about your hen. It is hard to know exactly what is wrong, but she looks like she may be suffering. She could have frostbite or some other problem with her feet. Gout, mycoplasma synovitis, vitamin b2 deficiency, Mareks disease could be possible causes. She may just be old and arthritic or has a reproductive disorder where it is hard for her to walk and get around. Sick chickens typically will take to a nest box where they can rest and stay out of other’s way. I would consider putting her down, especially if she will not eat or drink food that you place close to her.
