My Chicken Church and Duck House

Really lovely buildings!!!

Although, and I hope I'm not being rude here...but that flag could use some mending or should be retired. It's just one of those really weird things that I notice. From the picture, it looks like it's served you well and might be time for a new one even. Retiring a flag, especially around Memorial day, can be pretty awesome. If you've got a VFW or American Legion nearby, they can help you with it.

Thank you so much:)

The roof of the duck house is actually made of long wooden steaks, nailed about 1" apart. My husband gets lots of free wood from work, so many of our projects use the free stuff.

Since I built the pens, they are not exactly done correctly, lol! The church is approx. 8' by 10' and about 7" tall.
The duck house is approx. 9' by 11', and 5' tall.
And the pheasant pen (the one on the far left in the 1st photo) is 6' by 11', and about 6' high.

It is important to make them tall enough to walk in, to make cleaning easier. Also, I love to go in and play with the birds too.

Forgot to mention.....

We finally did put the flag to rest:) That picture was from last year, and you can see in the new pic that it is gone. Sad thing is that we haven't replaced it yet. I think I'll go on ebay and see if there are any for sale. It's time for a brand new one!

Thanks for letting me know. I thought it was some really high-quality lattice board. It looks very nice.

Now I'm wondering if I couldn't do the same ... if I can find them, that could be pretty economical.

I'm still looking into roofing options, cuz I have to get 3 new coops built ASAP and as cheaply as possible. Home Depot had more stuff today than Lowe's had the last time I was there, so I think I found part of my solution.

But I just love the wood top like you have for yours, and I think my ducks and geese would love that ... at least for part of their coop.

Thanks so much for sharing!
