My Chicken Confession

My last Chickens were 40 years ago. Seventeen months ago I bought 10 Buff Orphingtons and 10 RIR. 6 RIR died in transit. Then an Owl got 3 Orphs and 1 RIR. So I have 10 Girls. I tried to buy a straight run of Lavender Orphs. They all froze in the box. All chickens have their own personality, even according to breed. I also garden. I have no family, pets or occupation. However, I have been a Bible teacher for 40 years and if you have any questions feel free to ask. BYC always appears when I search a question online, so I asked the question, what grass do chickens like. I wasn't satisfied with your answer so I tried to post and joined so I could post. Chickens like Orchard Grass. Because they are animals who live in the shade.

Welcome to BYC! I hadn't thought about what grass the chickens prefer, in the yard I seem them eating a bit of just about every type of grass we have out there.

They'll even help themselves to the horse's hay that is a local grass and orchard grass mix. They really like this in the winter when there is no green grass to be had.
