Ok so I'm normally very hands on with my chickens however I had a visited my parents for 4 days. The are free range and normally don't need there food refilled for a couple days and I arranged for a friend to come check on them in two days given more food and fill up there water. When I got back one 3 year old Easter egger/welsumer halfbreeds was laying in the middle of the yard. It was late and she normally goose inside her coop at 7 or 8 for the night. When I got closer I saw her eyes where closed and she was Rocking back and forth. She not very social and normally won't come near me unless I have food but I sat right besides her and it was like she never noticed me I petted her to see if she was awake and she went right on eyes closed rocking. I picked her up and realized the entire bottom of her belly has covered with matted feathers and poop. I played her back down and went inside to get warm water and a towel to clean her of I turned her upside down (I read on line this was calming and always seems to work) after I washed her for about 10 mins she opened her mouth and made clucking motions but there was no sound I tyres to offer her food or clean water but she seemed as if she wasn't seeing anything she was very uforic. After I cleaned around her anal passage way she expelled about a half a cup of a diarea like substance. As I continued to wash her she suddenly became very lucid and tryed to fly away I played her on the ground to see if she would calm down or go to the coop or something and after about 15 seconds of laying there she started to go after the clean water dish when she froze had what I can only call a seizer and vomited a yellow liquid after which she became lethargic gain I made sure her breathing canal was clear and Sat with her a few mins more. She then peed? about a half acup of a brownish liquid had another seizior turning witch she pooped almost a yolklike substance and died. I'm conserved not only by what happened but why it happened and if I could affect the rest of my flock I hurried her about an acre away from there acre fenced in area and finished the ground were she was best I could I showered changed all my chickens food and water and upon examination found them all accounted for and seeming normal. This morning I looked around and saw nothing new or abnormal about my yard their food and water seemed fine and upon consulting my friend she was horrified and although she saw the chicken sitting in the yard said that it seemed to be dusting and sunning like the others. I did a bit of research and nothing really fits. Anybody have any ideals/advise. I've had chickens for 5 years where I'm at and never had a problem I got them from my family who had them for ten years and got them from a respected breader. Besides the occasional fox, hawk, or missing hen every few years there has never been any health problems.

Sorry, for your loss. I can't imagine what happened to her unless she got into some poison or moldy feed. If you took her to your vet to be necropsied, he could probably find out if she had anything contagious.
