Whenever it rains, the feed for my chickens always clumps up. Any tips on how to manage or prevent this? I want to make sure I'm not giving my chickens moldy food.

Is it clumping where it's stored or just in your feeder? How are you storing it, and what kind of feeder are you using?

Letting the food get damp is a bad idea. Not just because of mould but if it gets wet and then dries out again in the feeders it makes a solid clumpy mess the chickens can't peck at. If I rains very heavily the food can even be flooded out and wasted. All feeders should be in covered areas of the coop/run or have their own covers. Food bags should be stored in airtight bins o containers ideally to keep it dry and also discourage rodents.

I keep the feeder in the coop year round. 20180528_115151.jpg .

Especially important in damp or humid weather or wide temperature swings between day and night. GC
