My chicken has a broken toe. What to do? She is not limping, and so far no signs of infection. What can I do?

If it doesn't seem to be bothering her and you don't mind having a chicken with a crooked toe, just let it heal that way. If you don't like crooked toes on your chickens, I suppose you could try setting/splinting it. Not sure what you would use. Popsicle stick and medical tape, perhaps? Or just a thick layer of tape around it? But that might make the whole thing worse for her, having this big, bulky thing on her. It might even make it hurt because of the lump of splint making the pressure on her foot be uneven. Me? I'd just let it heal as is...

keep an eye on it.. I have a very large Light Brahma rooster who apparently broke his toe and it healed crooked.. it turns opposite direction of other toes.. does not give him any issues.. so if you don't mind a chicken with a weird looking foot and she gets along fine everything will be ok!

thanks! I think I will just watch her, and if it begins to bother her, just let it be. If it starts looking bad, I will take her to a vet.
