My chicken has outside toes that curl backwards..normal or not?

I THINK I have a nice big red rooster, but his outside toes on both feet curl backwards, a lot of the time.. they are not always like that, but mostly... if it is a rooster, would he pass it on to his offspring? Should I be concerned? Thanks! Sella
