I did not know only one strain of cocci produced blood, I knew it was not always present though. I wonder if sometimes the blood seen with late stage cocci could be related from a secondary intestinal infection that the cocci would no doubt leave them open to. I am pretty sure I just delt with that exact situation in my broilers.
Back to the hen in question, if there is some pink poop along with the other symptoms that would be enough evidence for me to treat for cocci, esp with corrid as it is a low risk med, sulmet on the other hand is a little rougher on them and realy only targets a couple strains.
Yep having a good supply of meds on hand is very comforting, discovering saturday night that you have sick animals and no meds is a helpless feeling. Fortunatly I have a cousin who is part owner of local feed store so pulled a couple favors.
