My girls are around 4 weeks old, doing wonderful and I rushed to get there coop made. I had to hire someone, and he was all rushed, so things still have to be done and he needs to trim around the windows and finish up on the door, nesting boxes and finish the insulation and osb board to cover the foam insulation, but its getting done and should be done by Wednesday! Im so happy, my house is also being remodeled so there is so much of a mess in my back yard, but with in a few months I will be putting a new run up behind the hen house and also letting them free range while Im home from work in the afternoons.

My yard is a mess, but soon will be all pretty when I can get my kitchen done ( there remodeling the whole thing and expanding it out ) and my yard is all dug up and a mess from all the work. but by July it will look so much better and replanted!

this coop has 3 windows that were from a glass shop . they were mistakes ( people bought them and never picked them up) very nice vinyl windows that are solar.
its being insulated, and has a hood at the top for ventilation. I will be putting vinyl flooring down to keep it cleaner, and I am ordering nesting boxes from ebay that are adorable. will have a nice roosting board there and also a roosting board to collect the poop. Im so happy, and will be doing a new coop at my moms as she wants cooper marans and a few other chickens. hers will be built this fall and I will be raising her chicks for her next spring

I forgot to mention my hen house will hold 6 chickens, its 6 feet tall, 6 feet wide, and 5 feet deep. I read where this is a perfect size for 6 to 8 chickens.

well yesterday the contractor who works on my kitchen says he is mad, he says the friend he hired to do the coop made terrible mistakes ( I can see some) and he will never allow this to reflect on him, he was so nice he said Im going to finish it for you! He told me to call the guy, and tell him you had other plans, and the contractor will be back on sunday to fix many of the problems. he was mad at the foam board being pieced, he was mad about the siding not put on right or the windows, he is taking it apart and redoing it

then he is going to make me out side nesting boses like there was supposed to be. The guy who started the project told me, well its to late now just put some on the floor of the coop. ugh I hate bad workers. So Sunday it will be rectified and done right. I can not wait to see it done right.

LOL< yeah, my birds will be spoiled, but it gets so cold here and way below zero, I want them to be cared for right and not loose them to the weather. thanks for the complements

Be sure to cover up the foam board. The chickens WILL eat it. It'll be a bit tight for 6 chickens, especially during a long cold winter. If you can, make it bigger! They tend to get bored and pick on each other. Looks good, tho.
