my chicken house is just about done! just a few more add ons :)

A new coop and kitchen, don't get much better than that. I am sure you will enjoy both.

Thats great a new coop for the eggs to be laid in and a new kitchen to cook the new eggs, that is awesome!

No way will this coop be to small, it's a 5 feet deep 6 feet long and looks to be about 7 feet high , the nesting boxes will be out side of the coop so all is well with the inside floor space. I see folks doing a 4x4 coop with 6 chickens, so im pretty sure five x six is a good enough size for mine. It set me back eight hundred, and the contractor who recommended the guy is fixing it for free as he. Is 'mad the guy did a crappy job. My chickens are 1 rhode island red, 2 buff and 3 austolorps

You mentioned that it gets way below zero by you. Do you get snow too? If so, are you going to go out every time it snows to shovel out the run so they can go outside? When it is cold & snowy outside, they might spend their time in the coop, and your coop is pretty small to be spending all that time in. Chickens get bored & grumpy pretty easily being cooped up. That is what chickflick meant.

My run will be covered , not doing a run all summer, will be using a large pen I can move around the yard so they can have fresh grass and bugs, but will have one for winter with a nice top over it to keep snow out, one side will ales have a to block blowing snow. Also the blue foam board will be covered with sob board to keep chickens from it. This is my first coop, im doing another one at my moms this fall and that one will be 6x8 same amount of chickens ,this next spring. I'm also looking into a green house made to plant my veggies, then let the chickens have it during the winter months, just a thought as I have the contractor looking in on cost now for the green house.
