Saturday morning, I'm in the kitchen. The girls are free-ranging in our yard. It's usual for them to come up to the kitchen door to say hello to me, because they usually get treats if they do. Once in a while one will get separated from the rest and the porch is a refuge until the others show up or I go out and take the little lost girl in hand (or wing) and we walk the yard until we find the rest of the flock. So this Saturday, I hear this BAUUUK... BAWKKAWKKK... over and over... I go out to the porch and there's Junie, my sweetie little RIR all alone just squawking her head right off. I think, well she is separated from the rest... so I pick her up and off we go. And go and go and go around and around the yard.. where are the girls? Junie's just going full bore now... BAWKKKAWKKK!! Then through the hedgerow I spot a flash of white!! Those little stinkers were in the road. I think Junie came to tell on those girls!! Glad she did... phewwww!! So I yelled and they all came runnin'. So happy that my chicken is a rat!!
