We have a feeder mounted to the wall in the coop and one of our chickens found a way to get behind it and was stuck. When my husband got her out the top of her beak is raw and she isn't moving much. We put her in a cage and brought her inside to confine her from the other chickens but we noticed that when she is eating her beak is making a clicking noise and the bottom beak moves side to side. Is it possible that she broke her beak? What do we do? She is eating not alot but atleast she is touching her food.

poor thing... you might want to give her wet mash in a deep feeder that she can easily scoop up ... hope nothing is broken

I agree, another BYCer put water in medicated starter and fed this slurry with a dropper.

Birds can move thier lower beak quite alot. this is pretty normal. Keep the bird warm, isolated and up on top of something so they do not stress on the ground.

You can put electrolytes and vitamines in a low concentration in a small waterer. BE SURE the chick is drinking, tihs is very improtant. Chickens drink a lot of water, you would be suprised.

Thank you for your replies she seems to be moving around alittle now so hopefully she will be fine.
