I posted recently about one of my chickens being smarter than the others.
I have four free ranging girls, and we live in the suburbs, we have a .10 acre lot.
Tonight I walked to a neighbor's house for an outdoor evening meal. This involved walking past four houses, three with big dogs in the their yards. You can see the front and side yard of the house I was visiting from the table we were sitting at while we were eating. My neighbor suddenly yelled OMG There's your Chicken! She had taken about an hour to get there after I left, but she was sitting looking through the gate at me while I ate fried chicken wings, lol. Everyone was stunned at the way she followed me. She has never left our garden before, or gone into the street. She could have been hit by a car (our street is very busy), eaten by a dog, picked up by a stranger, anything. It's so weird that she came to the house I was eating dinner at. I am heading to Home Depot tomorrow morning for some more chicken wire!!!!

After her little adventure she calmly let me pick her up and carry her home, I locked her in for the night two hours early, much to her vocal disgust. Her complaints followed me down the street as I went back to my dinner..

That' adorable. I imagine the neighborhood is getting a kick out of your "pet." It's a whole new meaning to "bird dog."

eks and I'm already totally in love.
She's the third from left here.

OMG! That is the cutest! I have one hen that loves to be held and given attention but nowhere near what you are describing. What a gem!
