My chicken is sitting on some eggs

I just have 2 hens. One is about 8 years old and is a bantam Cochin. She goes broody alot so I got some fertile eggs for her to hatch. Will they need a heat lamp when they hatch or will she continue to keep them warm.

It's anybody's guess. Has she raised chicks before? I'd have a heat lamp and brooder on hand and ready, just in case.

Welcome to BYC. Keep them dry and draft free, and she will do the rest. A heat lamp should not be necessary.

I would not use a heat lamp. Mom can do the job just fine as long as she is well fed. You should switch the flock to an all-flock type feed with oyster shell on the side for active layers so mom has something to eat herself and feed the chicks.

She'll keep them perfectly warm! That's what mama hens are for.

If you want her to raise them and she does too, she'll keep them warm and cozy. Do you have a separate place she's going broody that way when the chicks hatch none of the other chickens might pick at them? This also helps her to raise them with ease, get food and water easily, and before you know it, they're start scratching and wanting to dust.
