My chicken just got attacked by my dog. HELP!!!

Yes, the triple antibiotic ointment is good to use twice a day on any wounds after cleaning them. If the leg was bleeding, was it scraped, or was there a chance the bone went through the skin? Pictures? Glad that she took some Gatorade. Tomorrow, try chicken feed with a lot of water added, plipis some scrambled egg.

My chicken just got attacked by my dog, What do I do?? Her leg may be broken, but I'm not sure... Here are some photos if this will help! There is a big wound on her back. I stopped the bleeding though. She won't eat and is just lying there....

I don't really have any medical supplies...I cleaned the wound with peroxide and wrapped it...

Thank you! She ate a few pieces of bread but now she won't anymore and I can't get her to eat her grit...Does she need it right now or will she be okay, for the night?

I have something called "Triple Antibiotic Ointment" should I use that?
Okay, I won't do anymore peroxide. Yes, I have already given her Gatorade. No she cannot stand, and her one leg is sorta hanging so I'm not sure if it's broken?? She did kick it though, so is that a good sign? She seems to be breathing okay.
Should I go put some triple antibiotic on her now?

Okay. Yes, she was bleeding from her leg before, but she's fine now, still can't stand though.
I'm sorry to hear about your hen:hugs
It sounds like she is in shock. I would keep her warm and offer her the gatorade at room temperature.
When she is a bit more stable, trim the feathers away from the wounds so you can get a better look at them.
Post new photos once she is trimmed up.
The leg sounds like it has been injured, did you find a wound on it too - you mentioned that it was bloody? Again, once she is stable, wash the leg or flush it out, trim the feathers so you can see it better.

If she is responsive and will drink a little, that's fine. She can eat a little in the morning.

I would use the triple antibiotic as long as there is no pain killer in it. Apply it and give her any electrolytes you can. You might need to take her to a vet. Birds with broken bones are hard to heal but it isn’t impossible. Do you have her alone and in a crate?
Okay. I looked at the triple antibiotic and it didn't say anything about pain killer in it. Yes, I have her in a crate alone.

A lot will depend on whether she suffered an internal injury. If not, odds are good that she will recover. In terms of what you can do for her with what you have on hand.

1. Make sure the wound is clean (sounds like you already did that). Check for additional wounds and, if you find any, gently wash with saline solution or just plain water.

2. Apply neosporin or triple antibiotic cream (the kind without pain relief) to the wounds, if you have some. If you don't you should be able to get some tomorrow from the nearest pharmacy or grocery store.

3. Make sure she is in a warm (like 75 to 80 degree), dry, quiet place.

4. Offer her water and scrambled eggs. If she is not eating or drinking tonight, don't panic. She is probably in shock.

5. Let her rest tonight. Let yourself rest tonight. Much of this is up to her.

6. In the morning if she is still with us, you can reassess if and what she will eat, and maybe you can get some more supplies (nutridrench, neosporin, etc.). If she is alert, but won't eat, there are ways to help encourage her.

We will be here to help. Good luck with everything.
Great!! Thank you!! Keeping my fingers crossed!:fl:fl:fl:fl:fl
