My chicken just started pecking me

I'm new to raising chickens. My 8 chickens are different breeds and are 5 months old. They have all been so friendly until recently. My columbian wyandotte has been pecking my hand hard whenever I reach down to pet the others. Is she just being protective or jealous or is she just a meanie?

Peck her back. It worked for me. I used a long weed stem -- flexible and couldn't possibly actually hurt her because I stayed away from her eyes. I think it's the act, not the force involved.
