My chicken laid her first egg!!!

Wow it really has been awhile. Your chicks were still in the brooder when I last checked in on them. They are so big now. I love your little sebright bantam, and it looked like it was a pullet from the pics. That is a great flock of chickens you have and they will lay before you know it. I need to get some straw in my nest boxes so that my chickens will lay in the nest boxes. Good to hear from you again, and Thanks

Thanks

Just thought I'd update everybody, I have had one more easter egg and one white egg fresh today from my wonderful ideal 236s. I hope the laying continues for these hens of less then 20 weeks of age.

YAY for U!! One of my Easter Chicks layed one on Monday, on the coop floor, they are 16wks. old. But I have not had one since. I do let them out to free roam during the day, so I'm worried they are laying under the coop or deck, where I can't see or reach. I'd love to know if they will return to the coop to lay or just lay eggs where ever they are at?

my chicken laid her first egg, that we've seen anyway. She didn't make a peep, and a few minutes afterwards she started cackling like a proud momma. I didn't have any straw for her nest, I don't think she really cared for the hamster pine shavings lol. How can I know for sure that this was her first egg. They are free roaming, so it's possible that she wasn't new to this. I marked my calendar to start watching for eggs yesterday, missed it by a day lol. I have an identical chicken to her, except for size, one of them is quite a bit bigger. And I have two black ones that have the greenish purplish shine in the sun. They black ones are a week or two older than Goldie and Red Should I keep them in their run with coop access until eggs are laid? It's now time to switch their feed too, with the calcium, right? Do I now feed it to all of them? And, how long after the egg is laid before I refrigerate it?
