Hi everyone!

This morning I discovered my young Polish chicken - whom only started laying eggs about 3 months ago - was acting strange, barely moving and very lethargic. She’s usually very energetic so I went to check on her and she was not okay at all.

I checked her and her tummy, but I can’t feel an egg. I also don’t want to press hard or anything like that, so I’m not 100% sure if she’s eggbound.

I’ve given her 2 warm baths today. She soaked for about 20/30mins and then I blow dried her both times.

Now she’s isolated in a quiet place in her little pen.

She’s not interested in eating and the little poop I’ve seen - which is super watery and kinda yellowish smells super bad - like rotten.

What should I do? I hate to see her suffer 😭

Thank you!

Get some calcium in her asap, human calcium citrate with vit D is best, but tums will do in a pinch. Open her beak and pop it in, she can swallow it whole. She may be eggbound, or possibly have a broken egg inside, that needs to be expelled.

I just gave her tums because I didn’t have another form of calcium. I’m hoping she’ll be able to pass her egg. She also has a bald spot on her back that I suspect she’s been pecking and pulling her own feathers.
About a week ago I’ve found a soft egg as well, so I’m thinking it must have been her and she’s having some sort of calcium problem.

I give them organic very healthy feed and they always have eggs for snacks and mealworms. For some reason she is having so many issues :(
