My chicken were getting attacked by something out there?

I want him dead, but the law says I can't kill him so........ it will be up to the city to dispose of him! Apparently they can kill him I wasn't planning on relocating him cause he would just come back and kill some more of my girls! And i don't think a baby could have caused all that carnage, I got nothing against Coons in general but I don't want it eating and killing my chickens. So something has to give. and I would rather the Coon then my hens.

Options:
Build a coon safe coop and run. However, that can get pretty expensive if you have a big run, etc...

I would trap him in a live trap then call the city to dispose of him. If the city doesn't want to dispose of him after you have him in a trap then your only option is to do it yourself.

I would trap the SSS I can't believe that they have no rules when it comes to livestock and protecting them from predators. Good luck and I hope you don't lose any more chickens. I would think raccoon due to being able to unlock something since they do have hands are very smart.

Wow illegal to kill a raccoon? Thank you for the heads up, I now know I will never move to Ill. Btw: to the geniuses who passed this law, what exactly am I expected to do if a rabid coon corners me or my children, ask it to play nice?

While I am on that note considering that this law will only allow for an over population of coons which mother nature will have to deal with and she is likely to do so in the form of a rabies outbreak, I would be extra careful when picking up a dead chicken, I would wear disposable gloves just to be sure, as well as burning the carcass so the dogs and cats don’t find it. I am sorry you have to deal with this and sorry for your chickens, poor things. I hope you have solved the problem. Best of hopes to you.

if it is on your property and a nuisance you can get traps and set them your self

I am in N. Ill and it is perfectly legal to shoot all preditors with exception to birds of Prey.

Having said that. I would assume you are not in a rural setting.
So trapping may be your only legal action.
Don't bother relocating. I suscribe to SSS.
.22 short is very effective on coons.
