My chickens always act hungry even though they have lots of food???

now that it is winter mine must MUST have the mash type feed mixed with warm oatmeal (not cold)... anything else creates a riot...

they like frozen (cooked) peas ...however I must MASH them...anything else creates a riot...

I have one now the that wants me to pick her up and pet her when I come in with snacks. I too thought I was starving them. Guess they are like dogs always wanting treats, letting us think they are hungry, and we fall for it.

they are not stupid. i have one whose on a diet on purpose just so i'll cater to her.

Chickens are very smart, perhaps they want to come out of the coop and onto the grass for a run!!!!
Do you let them out for a run???
Ill bet they also want some lettuce thrown in too!!

They are used to free ranging and having a bit of a hard time adjusting to being fenced in. LOL I threw two bags of that pre-prepared salad greens in there with them just yesterday, plus they get cut up fruit. They are just pigs.

Not enough, they want the entire fridge!!
Oh, and no, Helen, I am not letting them out to run. The whole purpose of this winter run was to keep them safe from the hawks who are lurking around. Silly birds aren't that smart when they insist on flaunting my safety measures for them back in my face.
