A couple nights ago, a raccoon got into the henhouse. Someone hadn't closed the door all the way, and one of the chickens turned up dead. When I noticed that some of the others had injuries, I attributed it to the raccoon as well. I separated them, and cleaned the wounds with hydrogen peroxide. But more chickens kept turning up with the same wounds, fresh ones, days afterwards, even though the coop was locked. And they were all the same: pecked out feathers, skin, and a layer of muscle in a circularish place on the back. And the four that I had separated, which I was keeping in one place because I don't have the accommodations to keep each chicken separate, had fresh blood flowing.
Help! What can I do to stop my chickens from cannibalizing each other?
I included a picture, though I realize now the angle's a bit weird. This one got pecked right behind her wing.
