Hello! I'm Meagan. My chickens turned into pets. I love them all.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I got my first 4 chicks March 2019. In February 2020 I added 2 more chicks.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
6 chickens
(3) What breeds do you have?
Rohde island Red, whiting Americana, auracauna/Americana x2, and my new chicks are a white silkie and blue laced red wyandotte. Pretty sure the BLR wyandotte is a cockerel. They are all named after the women in the show Letterkenny. So the BLR wyandotte will have to be Rosie the Rooster if it comes to it.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Their personalities and fresh eggs
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
snowmobiling, hiking, gardening, camping, fishing
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
3 dogs and one fat orange cat also reside at my home.... oh and a husband. He's pretty awesome.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Searching and researching anything about chickens on Google always brings up these threads. I enjoy reading them and decided to finally join so I can post as well and ask my questions.
