My chickens are so skinny, what do I do?

If it’s been two years and you haven’t wormed I would start with that. Unlike meatbirds chickens aren’t really “fat”.
Most just look big and fluffy but once plucked it’s nothing to write home about
Thanks. That helps. I can't give them any actual wormer right now, is there anytjing else I can try that I would have on hand? I've read cayenne pepper can help, I have that. Would it be ok to give them some soaked puppy food? Maybe it would help a bit. They just seem so skinny to me. I'm going to show some birds at the fair this fall and I don't want them to do bad from it. I don't know.

Sorry to hear this. Just curious, do they eat any supplemental foods like yogurt, scratch or table scraps?
No I don't usually give them anything. The older hens had a little bit of leftover yogurt a few weeks ago, but that was it. I gave them a little bit of leftover sprouted rye from the quail a week ago.

Have a fecal float done. This way you will know for sure.

Hi again everyone. I have 6 chicken hens, 1 guinea hen, and 2 roosters (they're separated). They have all been super thin for a long time now. I've tried everything I can think to fatten them up, I just am so lost now. My gander is nice and plump. We feed the hens Country Companion Layer Crumbles. They eat a lot, and they have good looking poops. They're pretty active too and seem otherwise healthy. They've been laying. Two hens are 2 years old, 2 hens are 1 year old, and the 2 pullets (not yet laying) are about 6 months old. We feed the roosters Purina Flock Raiser, which I also feed my gander as his sole feed source. They have free choice grit and free range for 45 minutes each day. I've tried soaking their feed, they eat it a lot, but it doesn't seem to matter. They are just so skinny, their keel bones stick way out, I can barely find any breast meat. Thanks in advance for any help guys. :)
Carbohydrates and proteins! You can supplement your feed with a ration of growth or plate, or with Flock Raiser. Scratch and cracked corn are a good substitute, too. Make sure that your chickens still have food available during their waking hours.

All the laying hens I've had were ALWAYS like a 1 on the scale... I haven't handled them lately now they are old (and I only have 2 left). Game birds have the proper breast. Having game mostly now I've noticed how sickly layers and other breeds can feel. You don't get any other type of bird (species) feeling like a blade at the breast bone! I've never understood why they are like that...

Suppose it must be like humans breeding snub nose dogs... ? Don't need much food for living... (Can hardly breathe in enough air to survive)
