I came home from work Friday evening, and my neighbor walked over. I thought it was going to be bad news. She told me that the escapees ( I have 4 that escape every day) were walking around her yard, and following behind them, like a baby chick, was a little kitten.
She walked out, and it ran, and squeezed itself under the fence into the chicken run.
She thought the chickens and/or the rooster would hurt it, but later she saw it again in her yard. And again it ran into the run.
So were were standing there talking, and looking for it. And there it was:

Over the weekend we saw it sunbathing in a hole dug by the chickens. Then it was napping on the cooler rocks. And when it got thirsty:

It is obviously a stray, and a baby. And it has decided to live in with the chickens. It's been in there all weekend, and still there today. It comes out and plays in her yard, then runs back to the chickens.
My neighbor is so funny. She bought food for it, even though I agreed to feed it until it hopefully gets used to us and lets us near it. Neighbor says when we catch it, she will take it to vet for shots and fixin. So the joint custody of the kitten is being shared by the neighbor and my chickens.

Awww!!! How sweet!!! I hope Little Kitty has the good sense to let you get close to him/her. What a great neighborhood you must have where so many are willing to take on an apparent orphan/dumpee. Good luck with him/her.

These neighbors are great! They are an older couple, and whenever they see our dog outside, the man will bring her a treat. The dog is so spoiled , she sits and watches their house, waiting for a treat.
She used to put out canned cat food for our cat, who went over there every morning for breakfast. LOL Since the cat died, one chicken goes over there every morning to eat the cat food ( neighbor has 2 outside cats).
They love the chickens, and give them treats also. Whenever one of them walks outside, all the chickens run to the fence and stare. When let out, they run to greet the neighbors, and any company the neighbors might have.
She still brings the chickens treats- and it's a long walk from her house, across her yard, around the fence, and to the chicken coop. Especially long for a 70something year old .

Well, it's been 2 weeks now, and the kitten is still hanging with the chickens. One day last week, it was already dark when I came home from work because it had been a rainy day. I opened the coop door, and there she was, laying inside the coop.
Every night, when I get home from work, the escapee chickens are waiting by the human door on the coop- and the little kitten is hanging out with them.
Today, I had to re-bury the fence where the chickens had dug under to escape. I guess the little kitten was using that as her kitty door- because she was stuck in the run.
She didn't seem to mind. She sat on a piece of concrete...

Eventually she was surrounded by chickens,

The chickens were too busy to notice, though. They were examining my handiwork, wondering how they were going to escape now that I have blocked their way.

At that point, I got too close, and kitty ran and hid. But kitty didn't run far enough, or hide good enough for me!!
