My chickens keep on dying :( One after another

Well, gee, then I just don't know. I tried. That's the only thing that sent up warnings in my mind. I sure hope you find out what's going on, and I'm sorry this is happening to your chickens.

Gaynor, I use bait stations. I put them where the chickens can't get near them. The bait stays in the box. But nothing works if there is food available. All my feed is locked up at night including the chicken bowls, and the bait disappears , but there are periods of the bait not being eaten. I figure no one's around to eat it.

Since I've just gotten 3 necropsies and the results have all included some enteritis, I think that's a possibility as well. I had a few with enteritis a few years ago and the rest stayed fine on Corid, and Tylan. The Tylan was given out of my desperation, but it may have saved them from enteritis. I read you can also give them a 5-7 day course of Tylan or ampicillin , etc to clean it out if it's enteritis.

I do admit I'm focused on enteritis, but I think it's still worth a mention. I would also think about getting a necropsy on your next demise to maybe save some of your future chickens.

We've had eleven Rhode iSalnd Red chicks dince mid-July. They were only a week old then and so are only about two months old now. Too young to be laying yet. They've been healthy it seems until just a few nights ago. I found one dead Thursday night late. Another the following morning, and two more late last night. So, four dead in a single 24 hour period. There is no physical damage showing externally. I was first concerned that a rat or small coon might have gotten in the cage somehow. None of the four showed any physical damage or hen-pecking. My wife says this "chicken thing" has been going around - that statement implies that it is very contagious.

Hi I am new with birds also, I have 35 birds that have all stopped laying. They have lice for sure I just noticed but they poop mostly yellow foamy poops or almost pure water. They eat and drink great but all of a sudden one gets very lazy stops eating and sleeps standing up and dies within a day. They are on only layer feed but have a fenced in run where they pick the ground. I have deformed them all and no change. I then treated all for cocci with Corrid and still no changes at all. They also cough and sneeze a lot. I should add to this that I bought birds from different people and never kept them seperate now I have brought multiple problems in I think

I want to add that I bought the original 15 that were over a year old and were not laying well so I got more to get more eggs. I got another 5 that were young a I new were laying every day and they stopped shortly after I got them too. I seems that it's only
My first group that is dying but has gotten all other birds sick too. Could a lice infestation cause all this?

I am having the same problem as tmlpike. After reading this thread, I am planning on starting the birds on Safeguard, then Corid. Hopefully it works!
@FeatheredFriends&Horses2 If you need additional help, you may want to start your own thread listing the symptoms you see in your flock along with photos.
We will be happy to make suggestions.

I have a small flock experiencing the same issues. I have been treating for coccidosis with corid for a week or so with little improvement. From a 50 bird flock I have lost 8 and gotten about 2% egg yield over the last 2 weeks. I can recover from the eggs, but I can't keep losing birds. Any update on this thread? Did it turn out to be coccidosis? Did corid help?
