I have several chicken folk as friends and their chikens stopped laying in early fall! My birds my slow for a week or so but dont just stop. Why did theirs? TY

Could be breed (some breeds lay through winter), nutrition, age and overall health. Buy mine have stopped at teh same time and still aren't laying but that will be because of the lack of day light in winter. My friends hens havent stopped through winter but we have different breeds. So its completley normal for there to have stopped over winter :)

There are a lot of different reasons. The three most common would be breed, age, and lighting.
1. Some breeds just lay better in cold weather
2. Pullets often lay all through their first winter, but older hens are more likely to have a hard fall moult and stop for a while
3. Hens lay much better with supplementary lighting, so if you leave some lights on and your friend doesn't, that could be it.
