my chickens legs

i have 4 Plymouth Rock chickens and 1 black sexlink, there legs are a little weird with a red line down then i can add pictures, anybody have an idea?

Pictures will definitely help. The only time I can think that I have seen red on legs was when young cockerels were getting a surge of hormones.

I see the photos now but I'm not seeing the red lines you are referring to. Also the legs look white and not yellow as I would expect of a barred rock. Are you sure they are not Cuckoo Marans?

Ok I now see the red line. How long have you had these chickens? I'm wondering if someone has been treating them for scaly leg mites before you got them as it almosts looks like there are two rows of scales missing running down the inside of the leg.

we've had them about a year and a half, we're not sure if they we're treated or not

That's obviously not what it is then. Have the legs always looked like this? It may be that they are shedding scales as part of their moult if it is a recent occurrence, since we are approaching the season of moulting.... my coops look like the girls have been having pillow fights overnight at the moment!

non of them are molting at the momment, as far as i know, this is a new thing homing there okay
