I recently got four backyard chickens for quarantine, recently one of them has started to limp as she runs. She can put her weight on it when she stands but when she runs it's sort of a skipping like gallop.comparing her nails to the rest of the chickens her nails are a bit long and I'm not sure how should I cut them or file them? Also one of the chickens has toenails in which that are very short and curl up but they've never been a problem since she's had them like that since she was a chick.

One of my cockerels started limping a couple of days ago too. No bumblefoot, so we think he might have landed wrong coming off the roost. We’re keeping the flock in their run and not letting them free range until he shows signs of improvement. Could your hen have hurt herself coming off the roost? Have you checked her for signs of bumblefoot? Is the temperature of the injured leg/foot warmer than the healthy leg/foot? Hoping she gets better soon.

You can trim nails just as you would a dog or a cat's. The nail has a quick inside so you want to avoid nicking that. If cutting is too nervewracking, you can also try filing down with an emery board.

I'm thinking the nails aren't the reason for the limping. Did you check for bumblefoot? I agree with Stablecoop that it possibly could be an injury from coming off a roost or a higher platform, if you don't see any other obvious sign of injury.

Pics of nails would help here.

I've found that it's bumblefoot but her nails are just a bit long. I have another thread and I'll attach pictures when I get home
Here's a picture of her feet she has bumblefoot we think but couldn't get the scan off,is it too early or should we continue soaking her feet

That's a tough spot for a bumble, I can see why it would bother her. You can try a soaking regimen first to see if that helps, if you'd rather go that route. Personally I'm a scab remover but not everyone is comfortable with digging those out - here's a post with some info and articles on how to do that: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/bumblefoot.1387009/#post-22775890
