Hi, all!
Just thought I'd share this with you. You can view the story on the Fox News website here. Scroll down the page a bit and see "Fowl Play" in the middle section under "As Seen on Special Report."
The Fox News producer and cameraman were at my house before Christmas. They filmed a lot, but of course edited much out.
At this point, keeping chickens in Chicago is still legal. We're working with an alderman ally (Alderman Mary Ann Smith, who is also in the Fox News segment) on getting the problems that contributed to the potential ban addressed. It's possible we may need introduce another ordinance that would set some limits on number of hens, ban roosters, etc. Nothing too different than what some other cities are doing.
But for now, we're keeping in touch with the alderman about how her intervention is going. We don't want to antagonize any of the alderman originally involved with the ban since they were just trying to fix some problems in their wards. If we can get it fixed in a way that doesn't totally ban chickens, I think we'll all be happy.
