In the past few months, two of my chickens have suffered a broken toe. I wrapped Silvia, the Silky's, toe and it healed well. Now, my big rooster, Dick, had suffered a broken toe. I cleaned it up, put Neosporin on it and wrapped it in Vet wrap. Anyone else out there have toe problems? These two are rather elderly, but it has happened to a younger girl, too. I would welcome any suggestions on curing or avoiding this problem in the future.
Thanks

Someone gave me three white leghorn roosters, and all of them had that problem. I culled the first one for a broken leg. The second two I culled because nearly all their toes had broken and then fallen on. None of my other 100+ chickens has this problem, so I suspect it was a lack of proper feed when the roos were young.

Sure hope it isn't genetic, because I had 4 hens go broody right after the leghorns arrived, and 90% of my hatch was solid white, even the bantams.
