This morning, luckily I hadn't let any of the birds out yet. A Red Tailed Hawk.

I’m so sorry! We just lost our beautiful hen 8 Ball yesterday. She was about to lay also and had filled out and had the most amazing black feathers and bright red comb come in just this last month. It was heartbreaking for my daughter and I to find those feathers in a big pile! We both feel bad that we didn’t keep 8 Ball safe, but we resolved to do better with the rest of the flock and keep working at it... When you bond with a chicken, your grief is just like with any other pet; we all hate to lose what we care about.
