Came home from work one day and saw black feathers scatered all over the back yard !! Asked my wife what happened and she said a buzzard was trying to get through the chicken wire to get at the chickens (all live) and she got out my old double barrel 12 gauge and a load of #6 s high brass and took care of buisness !!!

I have also had pet raccoons. They are great pets when their young, but they get mighty mean when they get older. I don't blame anyone for doing what they have to do to protect whats theirs.

Our Cookie was with us for about 10 years. She kept her decent temperament, only getting cranky when my brother and I would raid her nest to socialize her kits. The kits grew up and left the area (we lived in a park system called the Emerald Necklace) but Cookie stayed, went with us for three moves. I guess it depends on the individual animal and the way its kept. Cookie was "free" for most of her life, only penned when we moved to an area where she would have been killed on the roadway.
