My chickie doesn't have a comb. What does this mean!

My chickie, Bluejay, doesn't have a comb. Her friends have MASSIVE combs. She is a blue aromanda, and all the pictures I've seen of them have pretty big combs. Will she lay, and more importantly, is she healthy?

Your chicken is most likely fine. Chickens have combs that come in all different shapes and sizes. If her comb does not match others of her breed she is most likely not purebred but mixed with something else .

She's a blue Wyandotte, & has a rose comb.

Don't worry, she's fine. In the chicken world the combs have multiple shapes.
Here are the most common ones.

How old is she? Is she laying?

There are different types, shapes, and sizes of comb.

Here are a few photos of my hens' headgear (all hens about 1 year old and in lay):

Blue Australorp -- moderate single comb

Light Brahma -- small pea comb

Silver-Laced Wyandotte -- medium rose comb

California White -- Large Single Comb

She's a blue Wyandotte, & has a rose comb.

Dark legs and potentially dark skin as well, given how dark the comb is which makes me think she may even possibly be a cross.

Wyandottes can have dark combs.

Blue Wyandottes can have dark legs, since they have Extended Black, & the Blue gene.
