my 6 week old chick catches a big worm then she sits on it until it escapes or dies. is this weird or just a funny habit

No ideas, but I cant wait to see what she does with that first egg... or if she goes broody. Try giving her a big beetle bug to brood. That'll keep her busy for a while.
