My Chicks Are Sick And Dieing - Anyone Have An Idea Whats Wrong ?

They Are 6 To 5 Months Old. It Starts With The Flesh Around Thie Eyes Turning Yellowish. 4 To 8 Hours Before They Die, They Become Lifeless, Just Wanting To Sleep, Then They Fall Over Dead. No Marks, No Blood, No Swelling, Poop Looks Normal. The Day Before They Are Eating And Very Active, My Grand Kids Had Been Feeding Them Choclate Dounts, Everyday For Almost A Week. Could That Be What Is Wrong?

Im sorry about your birds but I wouldn't let the kids near the birds unless being supervised. Give them some other things to feed the birds like bread crumbs or watermellon that is healthy.

Yes chocolate is a poison to most animals. Im glad I dont get sick from it, cause I love chocolate..

Turning yellow around the eyes. I dont know about chickens.. But I know in people turning yellow around the eyes could mean dehydrated and/or liver damage..

Make sure the kids dont feed them any more chocolate. You never know. The kids may have feed them some thing else too with out you knowing it..

Chocolate is EXTREMELY toxic to all birds! they probably have liver damage.

Sounds like some kind of poison to me too.

I know chocolate is bad for dogs and rodents, I'm sure it's not good for birds either.

I don't feed my chickens anything with a lot of sugar or salt in it.

I would discontinue any treats and give them plenty of fresh water and regular chicken food.

There's always a trip to the vet... but that gets costly in a hurry.

Think - Rather Praying The Worse Is Over. No Dead Or Sleeping Chickens Today. And Some Seem To Be Getting Color Back In Thier Faces. Just Feeding Them Fresh Greens, Thier Food, And Lots Of Fresh Water. I Had Seen A Recipe For A Herbal Mash On Byc, Now I Can't Find It. Anyone Have The Recipe? Thanks To Everyine !!
