My chicks are very quiet

Granted there's only 4 of them, but even when I pick them up they chirp very quietly. They appear to be very healthy, active, eating, pooping, just quiet. 3 are Japanese Bantams, 1 is a barred rock that's a day younger than the other 3, but almost 3 times their size.

I got the 2 loudest chicks I've ever had. They never shut up. Always talking to eachother, even at night when I close them in the coop. They're louder than all chickens I've ever had combined.

luvky! I hatched 10 chicks and they NEVER shut up! they are like that day and night!

they were in my room but they were loud so they had to go outside in the cold

but I have the heat lamp with them so they're not cold lol

Most happy young chicks are quiet. If they are comfortable temp wise, fell fed, hydrated, and content they just make contented noises mostly. When I have a noisy chick I worry that something is not right. When they start to get older though they do get louder, they have to chat with each other and yell for treats, etc... It's like human babies, a newborn is much quieter than one that is a month old, and they just get louder as they get older. Not saying that tiny babies can't be very loud when they need to be! When your chicks are quiet think "happy baby" when they are loud think "crying baby."

My chicks for instance are nearly silent right now. All asleep with just the occasional quiet sleepy peep or trill. They are 1 and 2 weeks old respectively. Even when they are awake it's just quiet chatter amongst themselves.

Mine have different sounds for different activities but overall they're pretty quiet, too.

I did wind up with a runty BSL that made so much noise at first but has since quieted down. I think it's because she wasn't getting enough food.

It might varie between breeds too. My Brahmas are much louder than my EEs. Just more talkative. The EEs can pipe up when they get mad though. Like when I take the Brahmas out to play but not them

The EEs are about 2 weeks, the Brahmas 3.

I have 5 Bantams and they are pretty quiet Two weeks old. Except one morning at 3:00 am they would not shut up. They were distressed. My dog came over and scratched the side of the bed and I was like great now you want out too. Well, the dog did not want out. He was trying to tell me the chicks needed help. The waterer had a leak and the bedding was soaked.

After everything was cleaned up the chicks were VERY tired and happy again. Also Quiet. As posted above - Quietly chipping among themselves is normal.

My chicks are VERY quiet...the only time I hear slight little peeps is if I go to their brooder and talk to them and peep myself...then they will chat back...but they are growing like weeds and eating, drinking, etc...all very healthy looking! Soooo be happy you have content little ones!!!
