My chicks fall asleep when I pet their bellies

Why do my chicks fall asleep when I pet their tummies? I flip them over and pet them, and every single one just conks out.

It's called chicken hypnotism. There are several variants to this technique that do momentarily put fowl 'to sleep'. It is a trick that can be used for stocking pheasants for 'put and take' hunting.

Put a chicken on it's back, tuck it's head beneath a wing, and rock it side to side very gently and smoothly - generally they will become very tranquil/hypnotized/asleep.

Yeah it's pretty cool, works when there adults too, Call me cruel but I use that trick to pt them asleep before I butcher them.They just lay there and sleep and never know what hit them! (no pun intended!)
