We had a hen go broody on 6 eggs. We decided to let her hatch them. We are new to the chicken world. Our girls are a year & a half old.
First chick got out the shell but a nickle sized piece stuck on her back (mama got it off).
She lived two days. We weren't sure wheather to take her innside and put her under lamp or leave her with mama - at feed store they said leave her with mama. So we left her and put out some food & water.
Sadly she passed.
The next 4 chicks died before they got completly out of shell in varring stages of process. The last three have died before zipping but beak out (See pic). We read it could be sticky chick so we misted the eggs and wet the bottom of the hen (last two chicks).
We have one left thats just cracked its shell. Its beek isn't even out yet. She is peeping in the shell. We don't have an incubator as we did not intend to breed them. We really need this chick to make it through... any suggestions on how to save this last chick?
We live in South La and it has been significantly less humid than it usually is.

Is it the same nest? If so, It's possible that bacteria is getting into the eggs.
Another possibility may be a nutritional deficiency. What are you feeding your flock?
