My chicks think I'm a rooster

I live on the farm. Let the chickens out to catch bugs every afternoon. I have a golf cart & they follow me around. I always put them on the bugs . They get there fill & head back to the coop.Should I get a rooster are just do what I've been doing.

Just keep doing what you have been doing. There is no need for a roo unless you like the crowing.

Thanks. I always stay with them when I let them out because of predators. I just don't wanna see a dead chicken & people say the rooster will protect the hens.
