I have a new flock of 5-8 week old chicks. Yesterday I put the finishing touches on the run, and opened the door expecting my brood to dash outside in search of sun, dirt and worms. Alas, they wouldn't come out. So, one by one, I placed each on the down side of the ramp and nudged them into the yard. They had a great time all day.
At dusk I expected them to go inside - toward the light. However, they huddled up under the ramp. So again, one by one, I place them through the door of the coop.
This morning I opened the coop door expecting them to remember. However, they have no come out yet.
So, how do I get my chickens to go outside?
