I got a goose to basically take care of my chickens instead of a Rooster. Now she is starting to lay eggs (which is Okay) but I can't get her to use a nesting box I have made for her. Maybe geese don't use them not sure. Any advice about how to do this. Also, I have a nearby pond should I take her to it to swim? How else will she bathe?
Please understand that this is the first time I have had chickens as well as a Goose!
Thanks for any and all advise..

I have a gander not a goose so I can’t give much advice on the nest box, although I do have ducks and they don’t lay in nest boxes, however they do all have a spot that they lay in so I don’t care. As for swimming, if you don’t own the pond or if it’s not connected to your land I wouldn’t risk her not coming back. I have a seasonal creek that the ducks and gander swim on in the spring and summer, otherwise I just have kiddy pool for them.

I’d also highly recommend getting a second goose, as she might become lonely or frustrated because while she may like your chickens they don’t speak the same “language”

Keep her home and give her a kiddy pool safer.

My goose lays her eggs in the shavings on the floor of the coops. She isn't picky which one either. She actually likes to lay where the ducks lay so maybe put a few chicken eggs where you want her to lay and see if she takes the hint.
