my cochin bantam is siting in the nesting boxes

i have a cochin bantam siting in the nesting boxes but she is not laying is this a sign that she is going to lay and she is make sounds and when i open the coop she stops.but today i went out and she looked like a brooding hen
help please

How old is she? Sounds like she's broody, but that usually does not happen until they've been laying at least a little while.

thank you so much i walked out to my coop and there was a small egg in the nesting box
