Your Dad had to learn sometime too...by watching. Now you're doing. Don't sell yourself short. No miter? That even makes it better! Not everyone knows the tricks to angles. Keep up the great job and we'll all look forward to your continued pics

I just added a storm door to my coop. The coop has two doors, the door I dont use I made and hung a storm door off of it. I leave the main door open, and the storm door replaces that door. It is 6 foot tall, bottom 4' is solid ply and 1" x 2"s, the top has a 2' window covered with a double layer of chicken wire. I also added a small 18" x 18" window at the bottom made from 1/4" x 1/4" hardware cloth, so the chickens can look out, lol. That should help a lot with getting air flow during the heat of the summer. I will get some pictures on here tonight.

the door has two latches holding it shut, I dont think I could get through it without the aid of a ball bat or something of the sort...I have one thin gap to cover along the hingeside to keep out snakes...

Lol, thanks...I have kind of gotten partial to those nesting boxes....I need to put a perch/step on the front of them as I think I put them a little high...

How high up are they? Mine are about a foot off the floor of the coop with a "shelf" halfway between them and the floor. Granted, I haven't seen it used, as our ladies are still only about 7-8 weeks old....

its about a foot up, I need to make a step up, but silkies cant fly, that is why I think they may be a little high...

Great job. I do have a few suggestions, though. Love the nest boxes, but Silkies are very broody types. If you were to set the boxes on the ground, or floor, and perhaps make a frame to hold them in place, the Silkies would love it. Also, if they aren`t fastened they could be easily moved with broody in place to a secure maternity area or small pen, for privacy, which is very important for broodies. The other suggestions I have concerns the run. PT would be good for the bottom plates. Hardware cloth is much superior to chicken wire, and an apron around the bottom for security is usually a good thing. You might want to build it high enough to stand up in, for your own convenience. You`re well on your way. Great job..........Pop
